Terms of Service

Effective date: June 27, 2026

At a glance

  • You must be at least 18 years old to create an Anansi account.
  • You keep ownership of your scripts, production files and other content.
  • Standard trials last 7 days. Eligible referral trials last 14 days instead.
  • Trials are cardless and do not automatically become paid subscriptions.
  • Paid subscriptions renew until cancelled. Cancellation stops the next renewal.
  • The first paid subscription is eligible for a 7-calendar-day refund under our Refund and Cancellation Policy.
  • Optional AI features require a deliberate action before content is sent to an AI provider.

This summary is explanatory. The complete Terms below are the binding agreement.

1. Who provides Anansi

Anansi is a digital production-management service operated by Kearabetswe Koloko, a sole proprietor in South Africa trading as Anansi ("Anansi", "we", "us" or "our"). Supplier and contact information is available in our Legal Information.

These Terms govern the Anansi website, application, software, features and related services (the "Service").

2. Accepting these Terms

By creating an account, purchasing a subscription, accepting a workspace invitation or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and acknowledge our Privacy Notice. If you act for an organisation, you confirm that you have authority to bind it.

You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering this agreement. The Service is not directed to children. An adult customer, school or production organisation that records information about a child is responsible for having the necessary authority, permission and safeguards.

3. Accounts and security

Provide accurate information, protect your credentials and promptly notify support@anansipro.studio of suspected unauthorised access. Accounts are personal and may not be sold or shared. Team access must use Anansi's collaborator and workspace features.

4. Workspaces and collaborators

Workspace owners and administrators control membership, roles, projects and billing. They must invite only authorised people and configure access appropriately.

Content created in an organisation or shared workspace remains with that workspace when an individual member leaves. A sole owner must transfer ownership or expressly delete the workspace before deleting their account.

5. Customer Content

"Customer Content" includes scripts, treatments, images, designs, schedules, budgets, cast and crew information, comments, files and other material submitted to the Service.

You retain ownership of Customer Content. You grant Anansi a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to host, copy, process, transmit, display and create technical derivatives of it only as necessary to operate and secure the Service, provide features you request and comply with law.

This licence ends when content is deleted from active systems, subject to reasonable backup cycles and legally required retention. Anansi does not acquire ownership of your screenplay, production or creative work.

You confirm that you have the rights and permissions needed to submit Customer Content, including personal information about cast, crew, students, minors and collaborators.

6. Optional AI features

Some features may offer optional artificial-intelligence assistance, such as enhanced production-element detection. Anansi will identify an AI feature and explain when content will be sent to an external provider. AI enhancement requires a deliberate user action and is not required to use standard breakdown tools.

AI output may be incomplete or wrong and must be reviewed by a person. Anansi does not use Customer Content to train its own general-purpose models. Production AI providers must be configured under commercial data-protection terms that prohibit general model training on Customer Content.

7. Acceptable use

You may not use the Service to break the law; infringe intellectual-property, privacy or publicity rights; upload malware; gain unauthorised access; harass or endanger people; send spam; overload or scrape the Service; bypass access or plan controls; or build or train a competing service without written permission.

We may remove content or restrict access where reasonably necessary to protect users, the Service or third parties.

8. Plans, trials and regional pricing

Anansi offers a free Storyteller plan and paid monthly and annual plans described on the Pricing page.

Eligible new users receive a 7-day cardless trial. A user registering through a valid referral may receive a 14-day cardless trial instead. Trials do not combine, do not require a card and do not automatically create a paid subscription. At expiry, the account returns to Storyteller Free unless the user deliberately subscribes.

One trial is permitted per person, account and workspace unless approved otherwise. We may refuse or end trials affected by fraud, abuse or duplicate accounts.

South African customers are charged fixed ZAR prices through Paystack. Customers elsewhere are offered regional USD prices through Lemon Squeezy. Regional eligibility may be checked using location, billing country, payment method and account information. Misrepresenting location to obtain another region's price is prohibited.

9. Subscriptions, renewals and payment

By subscribing, you authorise the applicable provider to charge the displayed price and taxes. Monthly and annual subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. Checkout will display the amount, billing period and renewal terms before purchase.

Paystack processes South African payments. Lemon Squeezy is merchant of record for international purchases and may collect and remit applicable VAT, GST or sales tax. Anansi is not currently registered for South African VAT and does not add South African VAT.

An upgrade may take effect immediately with any charge or credit shown before confirmation. A downgrade normally takes effect at the next renewal. Failed payments may cause retries, a grace period, restricted paid features and eventual downgrade.

10. Founding Member pricing

The first 500 qualifying paid subscribers globally may receive the advertised Founding Member price, shared across regions, plans and payment providers.

That price remains while the customer maintains a continuous paid subscription, including an approved change between paid plans. It may be lost after cancellation, refund, fraud, chargeback or failure to remedy payment during the applicable grace period.

11. Cancellation and refunds

You may cancel at any time. Cancellation stops future renewals; paid access ordinarily continues until the end of the current period. It does not automatically delete Customer Content.

Refund eligibility and instructions appear in our Refund and Cancellation Policy, which forms part of these Terms. Nothing limits non-waivable consumer rights.

12. Changes and availability

We may improve, add, remove or change features. We will give reasonable notice where a material change significantly reduces a paid Service. Beta or preview features may be less reliable and may be withdrawn.

We aim to keep Anansi available but cannot promise uninterrupted operation. Maintenance, internet failures, provider outages and security events may cause interruptions.

13. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate access for material breach, unlawful activity, security risk, non-payment or conduct that harms others. Where reasonable, we will provide notice and an opportunity to remedy the issue.

Before requesting deletion, export content you need. Workspace and deletion consequences are explained in the Privacy Notice.

14. Anansi intellectual property and feedback

The Service, brand, software, interface, Anansi-supplied templates and documentation belong to Anansi or its licensors. These Terms grant a right to use the Service, not ownership.

If you provide feedback, you permit us to use it without restriction or payment, provided we do not identify you publicly without permission.

15. Third-party services

The Service relies on providers for hosting, authentication, storage, email, payments and optional AI processing. Their services may have additional terms. Anansi is not responsible for outages or acts outside its reasonable control.

16. Disclaimers

Anansi is a production-planning tool, not legal, accounting, safety, medical, employment or professional advice. You remain responsible for permits, clearances, contracts, budgets, schedules and workplace safety.

To the extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not exclude protections that applicable consumer law does not allow us to exclude.

17. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, neither party is liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, loss of profits or opportunity. Anansi's aggregate liability arising from a paid Service is limited to the amount paid for it during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.

These limits do not apply where prohibited by law or to fraud, wilful misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

18. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by South African law. Contact support@anansipro.studio first so we can try to resolve a dispute in good faith.

Subject to mandatory consumer rights, disputes may be brought before a competent court in Gauteng, South Africa. You may also use any regulator, ombud or consumer forum available under applicable law.

19. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. We will publish the revised effective date and give reasonable notice of material changes through the Service or email. Changes do not retroactively remove accrued rights.
